The research proposes an instructional framework focused on Bloom's educational objectives taxonomy and Kolb’s learning experiential cycle. This framework was used on a course for the Masters Degree program in industrial engineering. The new instructional framework adapted from on-line "Integrative Learning Design Framework" recommends the elaboration of a teaching program based on educational objectives, pedagogic models, characteristics, strategies and instructional technologies that are more tailored to the teachers and students’ expectations, and to the educational contexts, in order to promote more efficiency of the process as a whole and of its stages. This framework uses a rubric to evaluate students’ participation in on-line discussions fora that includes 5 dimensions “to measure” the quality and quantity of the postings, the students’ knowledge cognitive levels, and the postings’ relevance for the construction of the collective knowledge and its formal nature and organization. The course was offered in the first semester of 2008 to 14 graduate students and the results show that the instructional model and the dialogic and exploratory strategies adopted in this course contributed to students' development at both levels, cognitive and experiential. Additionally it added significantly to the collaborative knowledge’s construction.
