This article arises from the perspective of the concept of Edutainment, by combining education and entertainment through the use of video games in teaching and learning. We focus on contributing to clarify the relation between the use of video games and school performance. The research took place over the year of 2009/2010 at an elementary school with students from second and third grades. We chose the survey methodology to investigate both the students’ studying and gaming habits and the relationship with educational performance, as well as to observe the students’ attitudes and when using the videogame Campus - Vida Universitária. The results show that the majority of students are assiduous users of video games, and that this use is not detrimental to learning. However, their attitudes over the game differ depending on the school performance: students of higher academic performance are more autonomous and interested in tasks, which let us suppose that these two practices combined - to study and play - are complementary.
