Abstract

This article seeks to contribute for the development of a methodological approach to analyze and understand educational use of ICT, considering the concept from a multidimensional perspective of analysis. It also embodies the description of an instrument, a self-report scale of technology use for teachers, with seven distinct dimensions. The article also discusses the results concerning a preliminary application of the instrument in a group of 738 teachers of primary and secondary schools, by analyzing the total and partial scores found. As main conclusions, this study reveals the level of adequacy of the instrument used and also supports the existence of a moderate use of technology by teachers, with a differentiation of high and low levels of ICT use depending on the dimension being analyzed.
