From the understanding of Mikhail Bakhtin (2010), for which language carries the set of values which permeates it, this article discusses the definitions of podcast technology in the area of educational studies in order to identify the existence of common values among them, analyzing whether they relate to contemporary educational referential, represented by progressive conception of Paulo Freire (1971). Later in the paper, the educative nature of a podcast will be characterized in order to, based on the questions raised, draw up the central goal of this study: the construction of a definition for the podcast consistent with the educational part listed references. Taking advantage of the works of the philosopher Andrew Feenberg (2003) and enumerating criteria to privilege human use of technological objects in this area, the proposed definition will consider a conceptual consideration of technology in education, views and defined because of its "human doing" rather than its technical characteristics. From the conceptualization constructed, the podcast will be opposed to radio, to unveil the particularities of both technologies to characterizing the specific nature of the podcast, checking the validity of the definition offered.
