Abstract: This paper presents the U-TRACER® platform developed under the TRACER project (Use of Communication Technologies in the Portuguese Public Higher Education), held in the period 2011-2014 involving a multidisciplinary research team in the areas of Education and Communication Sciences and Technologies. The U- TRACER® platform was designed and developed with the purpose of enabling collect, systematize and disseminate, using data visualization techniques, information about the use of Communication Technologies in Portuguese Public Higher Education institutions considered relevant to decision makers, teachers, researchers and students. The platform allows the visualization of data from a specific Higher Education institution or from a set of institutions based on institutional, geographical, temporal and thematic criteria. This paper describes the organization and the main features of the U- TRACER® platform, the main results of the validation process and some final considerations concerning the sustainability of the platform.
