The past ten years had seen a significant expansion of the distance and hybrid education in Higher Education - HE in Brazil. Before 1995 the production of distance education (DE) was a task of radio and TV professionals, with the adoption of digital media this process started to be a task of the teachers too, who can now produce, transmit and manage courses and disciplines in the Internet, becoming authors of the audiovisual and hypertextual production of its lessons. The objective of this article is to offer basic notions to the teachers about how to create DE and hybrid education incorporating audiovisual and hypertextual media, describing the main elements that compose the cinematographic language and the digital narratives that incorporate the interactivity. Finally, it presents some principles of the production for the most common media used for DE in Brazil: printed material, teleconference, videoconference, hypermedia/multimedia and Virtual Learning Environments (VLE).
