In the construction of the first images on the most diverse historical subjects it is impossible to ignore the role played for the triad school, didactic book and teacher. Although we knew, for example, that the media, through films, soap opera, series and sets of documents, influences in the interpretations of the people on the historical contents, the History taught in the school times continues to assume prominence in the formation of the idea of history present in the mind of the majority of the population. In this direction, the present article intends to analyze the representations of the Indian Nation produced by the História e Vida Collection, of authorship of Nelson and Claudino Pilleti, adopted for students of basic education during years 1980 and 1990 in Brazil. Our objective is to perceive the presence of some types and standards in the constitution of the history narrative and identity of the Indian People in the didactic speech.
