Abstract

This article presents a motivation learning strategies program for promoting the academic success of adolescents with low achievement. This is a quasi-experimental research, with pre and post-test, and with an experimental group (n=110) and control group (n=99) carried out with 9th grade, 14-15 years old students. The program effects were evaluated on self-esteem, study methods, causal attributions, school achievement and opinion of the teachers. This Program also includes adolescent’s vocational interests and teacher profiles to motivate students to learn better. The EG improved significantly when compared to the CG indicating that the Program can bring benefits for learning motivation and, consequently, for academic and personal success of Portuguese students facing academic insuccess.
