The present study is aimed at reflecting upon the realities and challenges that make up the process of training teachers of physical education. Accordingly, there was a brief review of some aspects that permeate the process of education and training in educational settings, as well as discussions on the training processes of special educators. Thus, it was also highlighted the history of physical education, so that knowledge to the understanding of teaching practices and actions developed in basic and higher education. For that reason, it became clear that the critical and reflective model on teacher education is a dialogical design combined with the dilemmas we face every day, constituting a challenge to be conquered. With this type of training, the task of teaching is far more complex and should be developed from the learning that being a teacher requires broad concerns of its context, but without forgetting that its practice needs to be embedded in the education of individuals for the world and for themselves.
