Abstract

This article presents a critical reading of the contents of two films dealing with racial prejudice. Were selected films: Um grito de liberdade and Sarafina o som da liberdade, as source of research. The goal is to investigate the cultural, economic, social and political in Africa, to propose a methodology of film analysis, based on Cultural Studies. How does the film by showing the social conflicts generated by the racial laws, can help to train teachers better prepared and able to deal with racism and prejudice in the classroom? At school, the films from the perspective of Douglas Kellner, Michel Foucault, Stuart Hall, may enhance our understanding of the logic of domination by racial segregation and help mobilize actions for recovery and recognition of African history and culture and African-brazilian.
