Abstract

MENDES, Carlos Otávio Schocair; LEAO, Jorge Lopes de Souza  and  PEDROZA, Aloysio de Castro Pinto. Architecture and services for scalable distance learning based on the SBTVD. ETD [online]. 2011, vol.12, n.03, pp.174-197. ISSN 1676-2592.

Television is present in 95, 7% of Brazilian households, proving to be an important instrument of mass communication, given the Brazilian government project to promote social inclusion through courses using interactive Digital TV. Nevertheless, an excessive quantity of users could adversely affect the operation of the system, making it a non scalable problem. During the development of this work, it was discussed how to make distance learning easier, using as the core technology the Brazilian Digital TV System. The technologies involved were studied in this research and, as a contribution, a scalable architecture and service model was presented.

Keywords : Distance Learning; Brazilian Digital TV System; Scalable; Distribution LMS; Learning Object.
