Abstract

COSTA, César Augusto Soares da  and  LOUREIRO, Carlos Frederico Bernardo. Nature as "Principle Material" of liberation: references to environmental issues from Enrique Dussel. ETD [online]. 2015, vol.17, n.2, pp.289-307. ISSN 1676-2592.  https://doi.org/10.2592/EDT17N2A20150005.

The purpose of this text is to reflect on the relevance of "nature as principle material" from Enrique Dussel. The Argentine philosopher discusses the ecological question/environmental assuming specifically the degradation introduced by capitalist mode of production, which determines social relations of exploitation and alienation (estrangement). Dussel establishes a theoretical-methodological framework that allows us to understand the processes of domination and expropriation of natural life and human from Latin America, in a movement for the liberation of subalterns and overcoming of colonial logic eurocentric. The author, even without being an environmentalist, deepens the discussion of life situating the discussion at the level of philosophical reflection and critical in approximation to an "environmental issue critical". Dussel encourages the debate in terms of the principle material, comparing the dynamics of capitalism and the fact that we must do to transform our relations with nature in the light of relations historically involved.
