This text presents results of a documentary-based research guided by an analytical-reconstructive methodology that discusses a set of public manifestoes as an intellectual effort of resistance. Supported by a content analysis procedure, the text aims to discuss the manifestations of scientific and academic associations against the Provisional Measure 746, pointing out the main counter-arguments used in the manifestos, dividing them into themes of form and content. We concluded that the public positions of the analyzed scientific and academic associations bring them closer to the civil resistance, marking the counter-argument to an institutional and governmental initiative that, supposedly, would be inadequate to the context to which it applies. Such manifestations would also approach the signatory associations of intellectual resistance, which at this present time, present technical arguments and call for scientific research as the base of sustentation of the repertoire used.
