The present work aims to discuss the paths taken during the process of constitution of a Doctoral Thesis in Education, which had ENEM as the focus of research. In order to do so, it presents the three principles that contributed to the process of theoretical-methodological construction, namely: the perspective, moment that are evidenced the theoretical-methodological positions to which the research is affiliated; the movement, step that are listed the procedures used for the generation of data; finally, the analysis, in which are defined the analytical tools that make it possible to look at the empirical material. The highlighted principles will be discussed in an articulated way the exemplification of a research carried out. Finally, it is understood that perspective, movements and analysis form a triad that can contribute to post-critical research in the field of Education.
