Abstract

CRUZ JUNIOR, Gilson. “TO SEE WHAT IS IN FRONT OF ONE’S NOSE NEEDS A CONSTANT STRUGGLE”: POST-TRUTH AS A CHALLENGE TO EDUCATION IN THE DIGITAL AGE. ETD - Educ. Temat. Digit. [online]. 2021, vol.23, n.1, pp.273-290.  Epub June 24, 2022. ISSN 1676-2592.  https://doi.org/10.20396/etd.v23i1.8656236.

This essay aims to discuss the interfaces between post-truth and digital culture, reflecting on some of the formative implications arising from this bond. Through this effort it was possible to glimpse the complexity of the phenomenon, which is diluted by the spheres of politics, economics, psychology, communication and epistemology. The actors present in this territory are fake news, postmodernity, scientific negationism, propaganda, bubble filters, surveillance capitalism and cognitive biases. Finally, it concludes that the main educational challenges in this scenario converge on the reconstitution and strengthening of citizen practice aligned with republican and democratic principles.

Keywords : Post-truth; Digital Culture; Education; Communication.
