While studying a rugby women's team in southern Brazil, we faced tensions concerning the place of women in sports, especially in one of them that is traditionally linked to male archetype, because of it values physical contact, strength and virility. Through systematic observations of everyday routine and interviews with female rugby players, we found issues that reach both legitimacy and female rugby representation and the experience success of Brazil in the international arena. They indicate, at least in the minds of our surveyed, the rugby, in Brazil, is a women’s sport.
