This paper presents a state of knowledge of theses and dissertations regarding the Special Pedagogical Training Program. An inventory is presented as a result of a mapping carried out in the CAPES Thesis and Dissertations Catalog, in which eight dissertations about the course were founded between 2013 and 2018. Overall, the dissertations present the points of view of students of Pedagogical Training courses, in addition to teachers and course coordinators and even school principals and supervisors. As a result, we saw that the perception of the people involved contradicts the criticisms produced by the academy that this type of teacher training is abridged, therefore without quality. In the end, it is expected that the positive aspects highlighted by the inventory will help to strengthen the Special Pedagogical Training Programs to be consolidated as an effective means of pre- service and/or on the job teacher education.
