Abstract

LIMA JUNIOR, Afonso Barbosa de  and  SILVA, Lebiam Tamar Gomes. POSSIBLE APPROACHES TO THE CONCEPT OF COLLECTIVE WORK IN FREINET AND FREIRE. ETD - Educ. Temat. Digit. [online]. 2022, vol.24, n.3, pp.633-650. ISSN 1676-2592.  https://doi.org/10.20396/etd.v24i3.8663714.

The aim of this article is to investigate the presence of the concept "teachers’ collective work" in the works "Pedagogy of the Oppressed" and "Pedagogy of Hope" by Paulo Freire, "For a people's school" and "Education through work" by Celestin Freinet. The expression “teachers’ collective work” wasn´t found ipsis literis in both authors' original texts, however close concepts can be identified. The concepts of solidarity, dialogicality, reflection, freedom, collaboration, communion and labor as ideas that drive the understanding of collective work are in the very heart of Freire's work. Freinet explores the principles of the collective work by the following themes: education of labor, cooperation, self-organization. Both educators comprehend the concept teachers’ collective work in line with an education project done for and with the people. While Freire revealed principles for a philosophy of the collective projects for a humanization process, Freinet developed these concepts in the area of the organization of pedagogical work and conduct us to reflect and to establish a concrete proposal for cooperative work with students and teachers. These are readings that retrieve the importance of a education for the excluded, for and with the oppressed voices of society.
