MICHELOTTI, Patricia; KNOLL, Graziela Frainer; BORTOLUZZI, Valeria Iensen  and  GHISLENI, Taís Steffenello. MULTIMODALITY APPLIED TO CHILDREN'S BOOKS: A STATE OF ART FROM THE DATACAPES AND SCIELO PORTALS. ETD - Educ. Temat. Digit. [online]. 2022, vol.24, n.4, pp.941-955. Children's literature is essential for the development of the adult reader, able to interpret the society in which he is inserted. However, it should be considered that, in the children's book, communicational messages are the result of texts and images that are complementary. Thus, this research seeks to carry out a bibliographic survey of Brazilian researches that have been working with text and images in books for children, according mainly to the theory of multimodality by Kress and Van Leeuwen (1996). For this, a survey was carried out in the bases of scientific research (Datacapes and Scielo) in order to map these works and identify the highlights of these researches, as well as the gaps left by them. As a result, we realize that there is still a vast field to be explored in relation to multimodality, especially with regard to the analysis of images in children's books.
