GIROTTO, Eduardo Donizeti and OLIVEIRA, João Victor Pavesi de. EDUCATIONAL POLICY AND SCHOOL GENTRIFICATION: A CASE STUDY ON THE INTEGRAL EDUCATION PROGRAM IN THE CITY OF SÃO PAULO. ETD - Educ. The article analyzes the relevance of using the concept of school gentrification in analyzing the impacts of the Integral Education Program (PEI) in the city of São Paulo. Therefore, we conducted a case study with eighteen school units that joined the Program between 2012 and 2019. In the analysis, we verified whether there was a change in the socioeconomic and ethnic-racial profile of students enrolled in the units after joining the Program, considering two variables: number of self-declared Black students receiving Bolsa Família. The data indicate that in 88% of the schools there was a decrease in Black students and in 77.7% there was a drop in those receiving Bolsa Família, a strong indication of the existence of school gentrification induced by the Program. These first results indicate the need to establish a research agenda based on the theme of school gentrification, considering the context of Brazilian educational policy and in tension with the evidence produced at the international level.
