In this article we show results from two studies on Paulo Freire's presence in literacy programs for youth and adults, at local schools in the State of Pará, that have been accomplished by the Popular Education Center Paulo Freire (NEP), from the University of Pará, in association with the Paulo Freire Cathedra, of Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo, under the project "Paulo Freire today: legacy and reinvention - analysis of public education systems from the 1990s", funded by CNPq. Those were qualitative researches, in which interviews were conducted with educators linked to adult education programs, which have Freire's pedagogy as their theoretical-methodological basis, as well as bibliographic and documentary survey. The article focus on the presence of Paulo Freire in the personal life and professional practice of the teachers. One of the results points to Paulo Freire theory being rebuild by the educators in their practices, based on Freire's principles that marked their professional life.
