Resumen

KOHARA, Luiz Tokuzi  y  SILVA, Marcos José Pereira. Formation processes and apprenticeships promoted by the Urban Program in the Housing Movements in São Paulo. e-Curriculum [online]. 2016, vol.14, n.2, pp.519-544. ISSN 1809-3876.  https://doi.org/10.23925/1809-3876.2016v14i2p0519.

In this article, based on concepts and practices of Popular Education, we investigated to what extent the daily processes of political and pedagogical formation - understood as articulation, mobilization and organization of social movements for habitation in São Paulo (Brazil), as well as the struggle, against the State, for the right to adequate housing and the right to the city - can generate awareness and political formation for its participants. This study comprehends actions taken by the Programa Urbano (Urban Program, PU), organized by Associação de Auxílio Mútuo da Região Leste (Mutual Aid Association in the East Region, APOIO) and by Movimento de Defesa do Favelado (The Slum Dweller Aid Movement, MDF). Through intense fieldwork - comprehending interviews and systematic attendance of activities with both organizations which articulate 150 base groups and around 3950 families - it was possible to analyze how this formation takes place in the practices itselves. We could demonstrate that it is by the results obtained, in the struggle for the rights to the city and in various mobilizations, that the social movements can develop formation strategies and acquire knowledge of the origins of inequality and the means to overcome it.
