Teacher education programs are the focus of discussions in countless forums of society, seeking its redefinition from a broader idea of basic education. Being a teacher means being a student and in the case of the mother tongue, be a reader and a writer in this language. From the Brazilian CP/CNE 01/02 Law, one has to think of teacher training during their university education, more precisely, during the internship period. Therefore, this study discusses two practices in higher education institutions and also a learning unit developed in the internship practice, aimed at the development of the inicial training of Portuguese teachers.
