Abstract

VERDUM, Priscila; MOROSINI, Marília  and  GIRAFFA, Lúcia. The teacher training for fundamental school in the federal institutes of education, science and technology: potential and challenges in the view of managers. e-Curriculum [online]. 2017, vol.15, n.1, pp.177-199. This paper aims to discuss the challenges faced by K-12 teacher formation at Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology (IFRS), and the potentials arose from this peculiar scenario. The research was conducted under a qualitative approach based on a Case Study. We interview vice-presidents, deans and course coordinators. In order to analyze the data we use Textual Analysis Discourse (MORAES; GALIAZZI, 2007). The findings showed us the need to go deep on institutional diagnostics regarding institutional identity, courses weaknesses and strengths, and also lectures and researcher's appreciation. Emerged as positive aspect (possibility to do more) the teaching vertical integration that allows to combine different levels of learning (undergraduate, graduate and lifelong courses). The results also showed the need to create spaces to improve teacher's formation and perform a research to better understand the role of such integration and its impact on all courses.
