This paper discusses the impacts generated by neoliberalism in Brazilian education as a result of the stimulus to challenge. This process of "Mcdonaldization of education", "centralizing decentralization" and "decentralized centralization" are neoliberal legacies according to Gentili (2016). Otherwise, this paper also questions the devaluation of literature and it’s contributions to the portuguese language by exposing Literary Studies' almost inexistence to a subject matter fused to the studies of Portuguese language, both in a national and a statal context. The understanding of neoliberalism's acts inside the national educational curriculum is presented here using: an analysis of how the literature class is treated, focusing on elementary education with the National Curriculum Parameters - PCN (BRAZIL, 1998); In Pernambuco's State, this paper refers to three documents to be explored: 1. "Curriculum Standards of Portuguese Language for Elementary, Middle, and High School Education" - PCLP (PERNAMBUCO, 2012b); 2. "Parameters in the Classroom: Portuguese: Elementary, Middle, and High School Education " - PSA (PERNAMBUCO, 2013); 3.”Portuguese Curriculum for Elementary School" - CPEF (PERNAMBUCO, 2012a) is also presented here.
