Abstract

The purpose of this article is to discuss the intrinsic relationship between context, curriculum and teacher training. The origin of the study was the teachers' intention to formulating a course and implanting the competence-based curriculum. This is an analytical study based on theoretical references and one experience of planning the training process of the teaching team of a physiotherapy degree of a University of São Paulo. Throughout the paper the concepts of Context, Curriculum and Teacher Training are discussed, relating them and integrating them to the health area reality and to the educational principles of higher education. As an example of the theoretical discussion, the text presents the "Workshop Project" prepared in conjunction with the physiotherapy team. The conclusion of the study is that, based on principles defended in the article, the "Workshop Project" stands out for presenting characteristics suitable for the training of the teacher who participates in an innovative curriculum of the health area.
