Abstract

MARCONDES, Maria Inês; FREUND, Cristina Spolidoro  and  SILVA, Luisa Figueiredo do Amaral e. Pedagogical coordination: instance of mediation of curricular policies. e-Curriculum [online]. 2017, vol.15, n.4, pp.1018-1049. ISSN 1809-3876.  https://doi.org/10.23925/1809-3876.2017v15i4p1018-1049.

This paper presents part of a wider research, developed in the city of Rio de Janeiro, with the pedagogical coordinators of the county schools, during the time that the Mayor Eduardo Paes governed the city(2009-2016). The main objective is to identify whatinterferes in the autonomy of coordinators and teachers, according to coordinators speech. To analyze data, this qualitative research has used semi-structured interviews and content analysis methodology, as used by Minayo (2000). Stephen Ball (2010, 2016) and Paulo Freire (1983), their ideas on “managerialism” and of a prescribed curriculum, and Giroux´s (1997) concept of teachers as transformative intellectuals were the theoretical references .Data of the interviews reveals that pedagogical coordinators live several tensions when carrying out their work with autonomy and respect to what they consider important for the school collectivity. Their actions also demonstrate some, if only partial, resistance to these policies.
