Abstract

MATIAS, Avanúzia Ferreira  and  FIGUEIREDO, Rita Vieira de. Digital literacy and young interaction with intellectual disabilities from personal blog. e-Curriculum [online]. 2018, vol.16, n.1, pp.213-240. ISSN 1809-3876.  https://doi.org/10.23925/1809-3876.2018v16i1p213-240.

This article, based on data from of a survey on the behavior of "bloggers" with intellectual disabilities, conducted by the research group READ - Language Writing Revisited from Federal University of Ceará, aims to analyze the influence that the comments of blog readers can have on the digital literacy practices of the authors (people with intellectual disabilities). During the research, 5 individuals with intellectual disabilities were observed during 15 workshops with approximately 50 minutes each. The recordings of the sessions resulted in a review of their behavior after reading the comments from stakeholders of their respective blogs. Along the feeding of their virtual diaries, the individuals were accompanied by a mediator, whose role was to support them in their approaches. At the beginning of the working sessions the bloggers were eager to see the comments received and to answer them. The comments from the readers provide an opportunity for these people with intellectual disabilities realize the impact of their blogs and interact with a diverse public. No doubt these clues about the effect of the use of the blog stimulate digital literacy practices of people with intellectual disabilities.
