GOMES, Nilma Lino. RACE AND EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION: LOOKING FOR JUSTICE. e-Curriculum [online]. 2019, vol.17, n.3, pp.1015-1044.  Epub 28-Out-2019. ISSN 1809-3876.  https://doi.org/10.23925/1809-3876.2019v17i3p1015-1044.

The article analyzes the place occupied by the theme race, childhood and Early Childhood Education in the theoretical educational production, with emphasis on studies of the field of Early Childhood Education and curriculum. It argues that the concept and approach of curriculum, from the perspective of curricular justice, may constitute a possible path in the search for a theoretical place of legitimacy of studies that address this theme, especially those produced by black women and researchers. It is pointed out the fact that analyzes of race, childhood and Early Childhood Education question and denounce not only power relations and inequalities, but also the existence and impacts of racism that strongly affect black children’s lives and dignity and their families. This imbrication of perverse phenomena is present in the daily life, curricula and practices of Early Childhood Education. For a better understanding of this complex situation, the article proposes that the theoretical articulation be made between the concept of curricular justice and cognitive justice.
