Abstract

FERRAZ, Viviane Martins Vital; RIGUE, Fernanda Monteiro; FERREIRA, Cádia Carolina Morosetti  and  SARTURI, Rosane Carneiro. FROM THE WITCH HUNTING TO THE FEMICIDE: HOW CAN EDUCATION CONTRIBUTE TO THIS ISSUE?. e-Curriculum [online]. 2020, vol.18, n.1, pp.408-429.  Epub Sep 30, 2020. This study was developed from the increase of violence against women, named as “femicide”, and the theme of “gender equality”, having as triggering scenario the suppression of the term “gender” in relevant documents such as the National Education Plan (PNE) and the National Common Curricular Base (known in Brazil by the acronym BNCC). The objective was to understand how education can contribute to human education based on the issues of “gender equality”, relations between “misogyny and machismo” seeking to reduce the number of femicides, besides understanding the curricular impact of the suppression of the term “gender” in the integral education of the students and the materialization of the resumption of conservative thinking in the educational field. It was based on a qualitative bibliographical review, intertwined with Public Policies that deal with women’s rights and the theoretical contribution on gender violence: Brasil (1988, 2015a, 2015b); Cerqueira et al. (2018); Saffioti (2004); Federici (2017); Martins (2013); Perrot (2005). The increase in women’s death in the typification of femicide indicates a relationship with the gender condition. It was observed that the female body was socially constructed to be dominated by the masculine. Based on Human Rights and the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women, we recognize that the construction of pedagogical projects, in partnership with families, is a form of confrontation, mainly by promoting a reflection-action on how to educate boys and girls to respect differences.

Keywords : Gender equality; Femicide; Public policies; Pedagogical praxis.
