Abstract

SOUZA, Elaine de Jesus; DORNELLES, Priscila Gomes  and  MEYER, Dagmar Elisabeth Estermann. BODIES THAT DISRUPT THE BIOLOGY CURRICULUM: CLASSIFICATIONS AND DECLASSIFICATIONS ABOUT SEXUALITY AND GENDER. e-Curriculum [online]. 2021, vol.19, n.1, pp.278-300.  Epub May 10, 2021. The article is part of a research that analyzed speeches about sexuality, gender and body in a Biology Degree curriculum at a public University, based on the incorporation of Sexual Education in the curricular matrix. It is based on post-structuralist cultural and feminist studies and our objective here is to problematize essentialist (dis) classifications about sexuality, gender and body that are conveyed in this curriculum. It is a qualitative research that involved the realization of focus groups and semi-structured interviews with graduates and graduates of this course. With the Foucaultian discourse analysis, we highlight the tension of the “nature” of the body and sex, in the curriculum, arguing that this produces other ways of conceptual and political understanding of gender and sexuality, contributing to a teacher education committed to life and (in) democracy.

Keywords : Sexuality; Gender; Body; Curriculum; Biology.
