Faced with Freire’s influence on the various curricular policies, his pedagogy has spread, being mentioned as a foundation in different curricular perspectives. Thus this research sought to understand whether the conception of dialogue present in the Science curriculum proposed by the São Paulo Municipal Secretary of Education (Secretaria Municipal de Educação de São Paulo - SME SP (2019)) is related to the conception adopted in Freire’s administration at the SME SP (1989-1992). With a qualitative approach, which included Freire’s pedagogical and epistemological contributions, a comparative documentary research was carried out on the Science curricula of São Paulo in 2019 and 1992, in order to understand what the permanences and modifications were under the Freirean perspective of the category in the context of the Science curriculum. It was concluded that the “dialogue” category addressed in the 2019 Science Curriculum is related to a non-critical conception, distancing itself from a Freirean conception of curriculum.
