Abstract

TAMBE, Telma Amorgiana Fulane; COSTA, Candida Soares da  and  GONCALVES, António Cipriano Parafino. Relationship between gender equity in higher education and (technological) development in Mozambique. e-Curriculum [online]. 2022, vol.20, n.1, pp.100-127.  Epub May 06, 2022. The article analyzes how (technological) development affects women's participation in enrollment in specific areas of Natural Sciences, Engineering, Agriculture and Health (CNEAS) in higher education, based on socioeconomic indicators. Combining two national data sources: provincial and national census figures from theNational Institute of Statistics/INE (2007;2015;2017a) and data from the Ministry of Science, Technology, Higher Education and Professional Technical (MCTESTP), between 2010 and 2015, estimates women's participation in specific areas such as information technology, engineering and health. The results indicate greater participation of women in the capital Maputo; the indicators of socioeconomic development and urbanization are positive predictors of greater participation of women in health courses, but negatively predict their participation in Information Technologies and engineering.

Keywords : gender; socioeconomic development; CNEAS.
