This study discusses the teaching of capoeira at school, whose cultural manifestation and the elements of circle and craft of the masters are recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Brazilian culture since 2008. It was possible to observe a disarticulation between the recognition of a cultural heritage with the educational policies in our country, even with the sanction of loyalists who support the teaching of capoeira at school, such as Law 10.639/2003 and the Common National Curriculum Base. The teaching of capoeira and knowledge about its historical relationship with Brazil should be broadly addressed in Brazilian schools, especially within school Physical Education.
