Abstract

LAGE, Lucas da Costa  and  ALVES, Simone Silva. Law 10.639/2003 and the Curriculum of Pedagogy Courses in the Southern Region of Brazil. e-Curriculum [online]. 2022, vol.20, n.4, pp.1512-1533.  Epub Jan 30, 2023. ISSN 1809-3876.  https://doi.org/10.23925/1809-3876.2022v20i4p1512-1533.

This study aims to understand how the curricula of the degree courses in Pedagogy of the Federal Universities of the Southern Region of Brazil work with Law 10.639/2003. The research is based on the critical perspective, qualitative and content analysis methodology of Bardin (1977). It draws on authors such as Almeida (2018), Apple (2005), Adichie (2019), Alves et al. (2021), Freire (1979), Munanga (2008), Torres Santomé (2013), Gomes and Silva (2011), Triviños (2001), between others. Results indicate that the foundations of Law 10.639/2003 are treated in a transversal way, diluted in some curricular components. Thus, we understand that there is an urgent need for a broad debate in institutions, in order to play an important role in the construction and effectiveness of educational policies, enabling greater visibility of ethnic-racial issues in initial and continuing education courses.

Keywords : teacher training; ethnic-racial relations; curriculum; educational public policies.
