Abstract

PEREIRA, Talita Vidal  and  OLIVEIRA, Roberta Avoglio Alves. In pursuit of the ideal student?. e-Curriculum [online]. 2022, vol.20, n.4, pp.1633-1652.  Epub Jan 30, 2023. ISSN 1809-3876.  https://doi.org/10.23925/1809-3876.2022v20i4p1633-1652.

With contributions from the Discourse Theory, the research carried out with teachers from the Youth and Adult Education aimed to analyze the meanings produced on “juvenilization”. It has been identified that younger students are recognized as victims of the adversities of schooling processes; their presence tends to be meant as a threat to the possibility of the Youth and Adult Education to serve adults who had no opportunity to complete their studies under regular conditions. Contributions from the Discourse Theory made it possible to interpret that such discourses are organized from an ideal of a student and are loaded with idealistic and essentialist meanings that feed expectations of controlling subjectivities that escape an ideal of student.

Keywords : youth and adult education; juvenilization; discourse theory; universalism.
