Abstract

FELICE, Massimo DI  and  SCHLEMMER, Eliane. The Ecologies of Metaverses and Communicative Forms of Dwelling, an Opportunity to Rethink Education. e-Curriculum [online]. 2022, vol.20, n.4, pp.1799-1825.  Epub Jan 30, 2023. ISSN 1809-3876.  https://doi.org/10.23925/1809-3876.2022v20i4p1799-1825.

Metaverse technology has recently emerged from two approaches. The first understands the metaverses as multi-user 2D/3D world creation systems. The second proposes the “Metaverse of the ‘real’ world” and uses augmented reality to expand and enhance human experiences in the physical world . Based on this context, we seek to discuss how the metaverses challenge communicative practices and interaction in education. We present the main approaches of the metaverse, with the purpose of highlighting new dwellings and enhancing OnLIFE Education. Inspired by the cartographic method of research-intervention, we identified clues that allow us to infer that the metaverse favors the passage of communication understanding to a new mode, bringing a communicative dwelling where communicating, interacting and co-creating imply inhabiting a habitat.

Keywords : ecology; metaverses; communication; On-LIFE education; innovation ecosystem.
