Research with narratives and conversations, especially of a (auto)biographical nature, has contributed to better know how teachers think about their teaching activities and how curricula are produced in the daily lives of schools that identify themselves with emancipatory alternatives and struggles against inequalities. Its ideographic and historically situated nature reveals the inseparability between the field of the political, of the epistemological and of the ethical-aesthetic, inviting us to rethink hegemonic ideas about what knowledge is, how it is produced and legitimized, as well as its impact on social transformation. This article discusses the place of narrative production in the writings of life in schools and teacher education, framing and discussing the fourteen texts that make up the thematic dossier of the number. Thus, the debate around narrative research can be expanded, by discussing experiences and practices that open up other possibilities in the critical and sensitive understanding of what can (come to) be thinking and practicing curricula and teacher education in contemporary times.
