Through a qualitative and exploratory research, the objective was to interpret the potentiality of the teaching of psychology to contribute to the formation of a teaching praxis for undergraduate students, since these professionals need to develop solid theoretical and methodological knowledge in their specific area and in the educational field, being able to reflect continuously on the educational action. In the analysis of the questionnaires, it was verified that the senses attributed to the contents of the psychology field contributed to the construction of a critical-reflective and ethical-political view of the school routine, broadening interpretative horizons. These contents are not addressed by any other curricular unit, so, it is suggested to better delimit in the syllabus of this subject the themes that should be treated in the light of the theoretical references of psychology.
