This text reflects about the Libras (Brazilian Sign Language) disciplinar, analyzing the experience of its implementation in a university. We took as reference the texts of Quadros and Karnopp (2004), Quadros and Schimiedt (2006, Landim (1997) and Sacks (1998), legal documents and historical aspects. The narrative was built based on the logbook, examining the objectives, goals, conceptions and pedagogical intentions achieved. Results show lack of pedagogical guidelines and particular dificulties related to the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), as well as the necessity of adittion of other resources/strategies such as video classes, practical activities, posts about the Libras use, and implementation of a course for tutors formation due to the specific knowledge, mastery and domain of a specific language.
