LIMA, Maria José de  e  GUENTHER, Mariana. Curricular environmentalism for health professionals training. e-Curriculum [online]. 2024, vol.22, e56707.  Epub 29-Jul-2024. ISSN 1809-3876.  https://doi.org/10.23925/1809-3876.2024v22e56707.

Environmental impacts directly affect human health and therefore must be considered in assessing the health-disease process. This study aimed to investigate how environmental problems are inserted in the training of health professionals. The National Curriculum Guidelines for Environmental Education determine that education systems promote conditions for socio-environmental and sustainable education. Pedagogical projects, curricular matrices, and syllabi of undergraduate courses in Medicine, Nursing, Physiotherapy and Biological Sciences were analyzed. Except for the latter, all other schools had only a few courses that addressed any environment-related issues. The curricular reformulation of health-related schools is crucial to train professionals to better address health problems in our society.

Palavras-chave : curricular environmentalism; health professionals; university education; environmental health; environmental impacts.
