PASSOS, Luciana Serra y VENTURA, Lidnei. The struggle for other educational foundations: how to move forward by walking backwards?. e-Curriculum [online]. 2025, vol.23, e64969. Epub 10-Jul-2025. ISSN 1809-3876. https://doi.org/10.23925/1809-3876.2025v23e64969.
This work aims to problematize the rationality underlying the conception of teacher education within the “Bases Nacionais Comuns para a Formação de Professores da Educação Básica” (documents that establish the foundations for the training of Basic Education teachers in Brazil), through the theoretical-methodological framework of Critical Theory of Society. The (semi)formation based on competencies is addressed as a dusty, yet revitalized discourse that echoes neoliberal interests in education and fosters teacher enchantment. This is a qualitative, documentary, and bibliographical research. The study reveals that these (supra)national frameworks operate as authoritarian and prescriptive instruments, part of a global movement of educational reforms aligned with the centrality of neoliberal financial capital. They serve a precarious model of teacher education, merged with a pragmatic, instrumental, and one-dimensional rationality, committed to the standardization of thought and social (con)formation.
