HOLZMANN, Kamila K. Jandrey; ROCHA-LUNA, Fabiana de Miranda; WEBER, Raquel Elisa  y  CORSO, Luciana Vellinho. Mathematics in Childhood Education: possibilities and challenges to the teacher based on the National Curricular Common Base. e-Curriculum [online]. 2025, vol.23, e65219.  Epub 05-Ene-2026. ISSN 1809-3876.  https://doi.org/10.23925/1809-3876.2025v23e65219.

This article aimed to relate theoretical evidence on early numerical skills with what is predicted by the National Curricular Common Base for Early Childhood Education. The document specified objectives regarding numbers, relations and operations. These, however, do not reach the potential of mathematical knowledge present in children's daily lives. It was also found a lack of possibilities for reflection, problematization and, above all, theoretical foundations on number sense in the BNCC-EI. It was discussed the relevance of these aspects for the instrumentalization of a mediating teacher, able to build new objectives and strategies for teaching that connect mathematics to the multiple experiences of children.

Palabras clave : early childhood education; National Curricular Common Base; early mathematics; mathematical opportunities.
