The article revisits significant moments from the 50-year history of the Graduate Program in Education: Curriculum at PUC-SP, drawing on the narrative of Professor Ana Maria Saul. It highlights the creation and implementation of the Emancipatory Assessment paradigm, Paulo Freire’s presence in the Program, and the establishment and development of the Paulo Freire Chair at PUC-SP. These moments reveal the construction of an academic praxis committed to social transformation, the critical preparation of educators, and the strengthening of an emancipatory pedagogy. The text highlights Freire’s legacy as a lasting source of inspiration for dialogue, participatory research, and an ethical commitment to social justice in education.
