This paper analyzes the tendencies of the undergraduate theses related to Special Education, presented by senior students of the Pedagogy Course of the Universidade Estadual de Ponta Grossa, Ponta Grossa, Paraná, Brazil. The research was carried out based on assumptions of studies of the state of knowledge type. The study revealed that the qualitative and exploratory approach is the most used in the works. It indicated that questionnaires and interviews are the most common data collection instruments among the senior students. It also revealed that the largest number of researches is focused on hearing impairment, thus there are gaps in relation to the development of research in other areas, such as: physical disability, high skills/giftedness, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Assistive Technology.
