SANTOS, Rafael Ernesto Arruda  and  RANGNI, Rosemeire de Araújo. Conception on Guidance and Mobility (G&M) of a deafblind person: Life History Method. Práxis Educativa [online]. 2020, vol.15, e2013118.  Epub Mar 26, 2020. ISSN 1809-4309.  https://doi.org/10.5212/praxeduc.v.15.13118.008.

The goal of this research was to analyze the conception of a deafblind person in regards to Guidance and Mobility (G&M) within his daily life. This study has as participant a deaf-blind person. The method used was the Life History and as technique the open interview with the support of a guide-interpreter. Data analysis occurred through the transcription, categorization and content analysis of the interview, based on Bardin. The results were analyzed from a qualitative standpoint and the conclusion was that touch was fundamental both for communication and guidance, as well as the use of the tactile version of the Brazilian Language of Signs (Libras). The role of the family, which was involved with the specifics of the participant’s deafblindness was also verified. It is emphasized that the guide-interpreter is of great value in supporting G&M for deaf-blind individuals.
