Abstract

LIMA, Iana Gomes de; GANDIN, Luís Armando; ROSA, Luis Felipe  and  SANTOS, Gabriel Dias dos. The homeschooling network in Brazil: the conservative alliance in action. Práxis Educativa [online]. 2022, vol.17, e21141.  Epub Jan 20, 2023. ISSN 1809-4309.  https://doi.org/10.5212/praxeduc.v.17.21141.094.

In this article, we present a network of actors who defend homeschooling in Brazil. Our objective is to contribute to the identification of actors and to the understanding of homeschooling itself, as well as to the understanding of the Brazilian conservative movement, which manifests itself in a conservative alliance. To do so, we bring the context of the advance of conservatism in Brazil, through a complex theoretical framework. Next, we bring an overview of homeschooling in Brazil and in the world. In the following section, we deal with the methodology of the research that generated this article, presenting the way in which the data used in the elaboration of the mapping of the studied network were collected. Finally, we present the homeschooling network in Brazil, situating actors and offering final considerations. We conclude that the defense of homeschooling relies on arguments characteristic of different groups, showing the potential of the concept of conservative alliance and articulation for analysis and understanding of Brazilian conservatism.
