Abstract

SILVEIRA, Keylla Amélia Dares  and  ALVIANO JUNIOR, Wilson. Education for Ethnic-Racial relations in Physical Education research and initial training: a state of knowledge. Práxis Educativa [online]. 2022, vol.17, e2219419.  Epub Feb 23, 2022. ISSN 1809-4309.  https://doi.org/10.5212/praxeduc.v.17.19419.003.

Physical Education as a mandatory curricular component of Basic Education, for a long time fostered the construction and maintenance of racist norms, through eugenic precepts, marginalizing and neglecting the knowledge from the Afro-Brazilian and indigenous populations. Therefore, in this paper, it is affirmed the need for the insertion of Education for Ethnic-Racial Relations in the context of this discipline, starting with the initial training of teachers. Thus, this work aimed to understand how the theme of Ethnic-Racial Relations has been introduced in research on Physical Education and the initial teacher education. To do so, a state of knowledge based on surveys, selections and analysis of research available on the Journal Portal and on the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) Theses and Dissertations Catalog was constructed. It was noted the existence of deeply relevant research in the area. However, when analyzing the time when the legislation was created, it was possible to infer that it is still a meager job and that it demands investments.

Keywords : Education for Ethnic-Racial Relations; Physical Education; Initial teacher education.
