Abstract

BARROS, Tainara Batista; SOUZA, Rita de Cássia de  and  EUCLIDES, Maria Simone. The state of the art of research on anti-racism in Early Childhood Education (2013-2021). Práxis Educativa [online]. 2022, vol.17, e19403.  Epub May 24, 2022. ISSN 1809-4309.  https://doi.org/10.5212/praxeduc.v.17.19403.047.

The present work aimed to highlight the state of the art of research on teacher training from an anti-racist perspective in Early Childhood Education, in order to outline an overview of studies in this area and its main trends. For this, a bibliographic research was carried out with papers, Doctoral dissertations, Master’s theses, and undergraduate thesis published between 2013 and July 2021 that met the purpose of this investigation. After a general analysis of the works, four categories considered relevant to be discussed and problematized were elaborated: (1) Anti-racist pedagogical practices: possibilities and limitations in the school routine; (2) Brazilian legislation and its approaches to anti-racist education; (3) Construction of the identity of the black child; and (4) Myth of racial democracy. The results found pointed out challenges that need to be overcome so that there is an anti-racist education from early childhood, and further research that covers this area is also essential.
