FREITAS, Vinicius da Silva et al. Occupational health of teachers who work in Basic Education: an issue for Brazilian education policies. Práxis Educativa [online]. 2024, vol.19, e22836. Epub 14-Oct-2024. ISSN 1809-4309. https://doi.org/10.5212/praxeduc.v.19.22836.077.
This article aims to discuss the lack of education policies that consider the occupational health and quality of life of teachers within their work environment. The relevance of the approach is due to this aspect also determining the quality of teaching that will be offered in Basic Education. To this end, a literature review was carried out with a qualitative approach to show how educational reforms with a neoliberal bias contributed to the precariousness of teaching work and how the terrible working conditions influence the physical and emotional health of these workers. It was concluded that many give up on the profession because they cannot handle the overload and pressure for results. Public policies need to be developed to guarantee a dignified environment and better working conditions to prevent the school routine from resulting in teachers becoming ill and feeling unwell.
